My CD drive doesn't even appear to be attempting to access the disk - I hear the disk spinning but don't hear any attempt at access. However, when attempting to boot to the CD I can't get past the grey screen and spinning gear. However, I have an iPod touch with nothing on it. Just received Diskwarrior 4.0 which is supposed to be compatible with my 2.16GHz MacBook Pro 15 inch. In order to do this, I would have to partition the hard drive, which requires formatting the entire thing (correct?), which I don't want to do. I've read that you can use diskwarrior from an external hard drive, but that you have to actually install the system on the hard drive.

So I use the serial number to get the online download of Diskwarrior 4.4, burn a new disk, still doesn't work. Bootable USB Stick for macOS X El Capitan 10.11 - Full OS Install, Reinstall. I restart with the disk in, hit option, select to startup from the disk which shows up fine, but then the macbook won't start up from it successfully. Drive Genius 3 for Mac, Hard Drive Maintenance Utility, Bootable DVD. USB flash drive (16 GB or larger) on which is builds a bootable DiskWarrior.

Disk utility was giving me some kind of problem it wouldn't fix, and fsck-fy in single user mode wouldn't fix it either. DiskWarrior 4.4 can be used on Macs introduced before June 11, 2012, i.e. I've got a macbook from several years ago, 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, still running 10.5.8. Hello everyone!
